Based in Nalumavadi in Tamil Nadu, India, Jesus Redeems appears to be a syndicate of websites dedicated to promoting the word of Jesus Christ to the Tamil community. A sampling of the sites includes:
- JesusRedeems.com
- JesusRedeems.net
- JesusRedeems.in
- YouthWorld.in
- AGPN.in (Army of God Prayer Network)
- DeliveranceFestival.org
- NewLifeSociety.in
- RejoiceFM.com
- RedeemYouth.com
- JollyTime.in
Some of the sites are dedicated to video sermons, Christian TV programs, music, youth and children’s works, online media stores and live prayer sessions. They appear to offer a variety of services for the Tamil Christian community.
Jesus Redeems Ministry’s founder, Bro. Mohan C. Lazarus, has a story similar to other so-called evangelists. He grew up anti-Christian, but that all changed when he was struck with an undiagnosed heart condition that paralyzed and almost killed him. In the last few days Lazarus was expected to live, God sent a messenger to his bedside. After praying for the sick boy, a miracle happened and he was cured. Well, that’s one story, at least,
Other sites in the syndicate claim that he had a leg ailment at the age of 14 that became very serious, and that a miracle happened to him not from messenger of God, but after he got on his knees and held a prayer marathon.
The fact is that while Mohan C. Lazarus calls himself a “world-renowned” evangelist, there is little evidence of him online outside of his own websites. The websites are also problematic. They are peppered with “coming soon,” links that are broken, empty pages and old information. While there is plenty of space dedicated to the “evangelists” that run the organization, there is a marked absence of the things you would expect to find on a Christian websites, such as pictures of Jesus Christ, the Bible in Tamil or even Jesus Christ quotes.
Is it a scam? Maybe. I do know that I wouldn’t be making any donations or giving up my personal information on their Prayer Request form any time in the near future.
