Christian Wedding Planning
A wedding is the ceremonial procedure where couples are united or tied the knot in marriage. Weddings ceremony would be different according to the cultures, religion, countries, and social classes. Most wedding ceremonies involve an exchange of wedding vows by the couple with the presentation of a ring or any other gift, and a public statement declaration of marriage by an authority (priest).
However, this article is designed to guide the couples in planning, organizing and executing the Christian wedding ceremony. The Bible gives no specific order or outline to arrange Christian Wedding Ceremony, what should be included in wedding. So, you can design your own creativity but one thing must be kept in mind that your wedding ceremony will have the expressions of love, dignity, and worship. However, today, most couples are choosing the non-religious wedding ceremony.
Although, all the wedding ceremonies contain all these fundamentals:
- Entrance of Bride and Bride Groom
- Literature or Wedding Readings from the Bible
- Witness to sign the marriage certificate
- Wedding Vows
- Exchange of wedding rings
- Commitment, Blessings and Benediction
- First kiss after marriage
- Recessional
Many of us don’t know much about the pre-wedding ceremony events, that’s why sometimes marriage ceremony messes up. Here are some topics which must be arranged before your wedding ceremony starts. Bible Readings for a Wedding?
My fiance and I are getting married in a Church and need some Bible Readings for our Wedding. We don’t want the typical ‘Love is patient, love is kind…etc.’. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Thanks so much.
At our wedding, my husband and I had Ephesians 5:21-33 and Rev 21:1-4.
“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”
Ephesians 5:21-33
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Rev 21:1-4
